Maria Mathison is a force of nature in the world of yoga and wellness.

With years of experience as an Emergency Department Nurse, Maria brings a unique combination of knowledge, strength, compassion, and fearlessness to the way she teaches. She knows what people are capable of—and she has a gift for helping you discover it for yourself.

Maria is an E-RYT® 500, completing her advanced yoga teacher training through Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja California Sur, Mexico. She is Barre trained through Barre Bliss in Minneapolis, an Ayurveda Health Counselor (AWC) through Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda in Asheville, North Carolina, and a YACEP® through Yoga Alliance, allowing her to educate and support other yoga teachers through continuing education.

Her yoga training spans Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini, Meditation, Barre, Ayurveda, and intentional breathwork, giving her an incredible range of knowledge to pull from as both a teacher and teacher trainer.

And then there are Maria's classes.

They're a powerful combination of fearlessness, inner strength, empowerment, intentional movement, and breath. Maria creates a space where you're not simply going through the motions. You're actively exploring your edges and breaking through barriers—both physically and mentally.

She'll challenge you, not because you HAVE to do something, but because you CAN.

And that's where Maria believes the real power lives.

Her classes are creative, strong, and dynamic, emphasizing alignment, balance, strength, intentional breath, curiosity, and always a little playfulness.

Maria's extensive certifications reflect her commitment to excellence in her craft, but it's the way she brings all of that knowledge together that makes her such an important part of The Yoga Rooms community.

Today, Maria is one of our esteemed Yoga Study Master Teachers—a teacher of teachers—sharing her experience, education, passion, and powerful approach with the next generation of Yoga Rooms teachers.
